ABSTRACT

Creativity is fundamental to constructivist approaches to career counselling as evidenced by concepts such as co-construction and life design. Despite the need for individuals to be creative in their thinking and planning around career (Peiperl et al., 2002) and suggestions that career counsellors be creative in their work (e.g., Amundson, 1998; McMahon and Patton, 2002; Peavy, 2001, 2004), little has been written in the career field that facilitates understanding of creativity as a concept nor its application to career counselling. Therefore in writing this chapter, I have also drawn from literature in counselling, family therapy, creative arts therapy and business.
