ABSTRACT
Gender and globalization are increasingly a focus for analysis with a clear understanding that gender relations are as much a part of global restructuring as are changes in other power relations (Marchand and Runyan 2000). However, there is a great deal that is still at a relatively elementary stage of understanding. Uncertainty exists, especially with respect to the question of whether the many changes that have occurred typify ‘regime’ changes in gender relations, or are simply variations on fairly familiar constructions of gender within national contexts.
