ABSTRACT

Disaster resiliency has gained significant attention among scholarly and practitioner communities in the U.S. and abroad. The chapters in this book provide different definitions of the concept of resiliency and offer individual, organizational, and community-level analyses. In addition, the book empirically examines disaster resiliency from an interdisciplinary perspective and applies different methods of analysis (e.g., quantitative, qualitative, and network analyses). The chapters identify a range of factors, including policy tools, and governance mechanisms that are important for improving disaster resiliency.
