ABSTRACT

Parent involvement in education can have a positive impact on academic achievement, and some efforts by educators to involve parents appear to be worthwhile. Parental impressions of efforts on the part of the school to engage them is a particularly important aspect of the model for educators, given that it represents the most direct pathway to promote involvement by school personnel. Home-school collaboration is an important topic to address when considering parent and student involvement in Response to Intervention frameworks. Two studies were conducted across three sites as a part of the current study. Across all three sites, procedures remained constant. Based on the scores, students were matched and parents were randomly assigned to either the control or experimental condition. Parents in the control condition received only the "regular" assessment information that the teacher would typically send home. The measure was administered and scored by the classroom teacher, who had been trained on administration by an expert.
