ABSTRACT

The southernmost of the three Scandinavian and five Nordic countries, Denmark is a country of 5.55 million inhabitants in Northern Europe. Denmark joined the European Economic Community (now the European Union [EU]) in 1973. Denmark’s per capita GDP ranks among the highest in Europe. Denmark is considered to be one of the most competitive economies in the world, with one of the most liberal capital and products markets globally. Denmark is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary system of government.
