ABSTRACT
In this chapter I reflect on the last 10 years (2004–2014) of engaging asset owners in responsible investment. As the founding Executive Director of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) (2006–2013), I look back at the origins of this initiative and how the PRI sought to define, for the first time, the role of asset owners in responsible investment. I explore whether the vision of asset owner mobilization around responsible investment is being achieved. I also look to the future of responsible investment, and the role asset owners might play going forward.
