ABSTRACT
Gender refers to socially constructed roles, responsibilities and opportunities associated with men and women, as well as hidden power structures that govern the relationships between them. Throughout the world, there are gender-specific differences in consumption patterns, lifestyles, access to and control of resources, power, and vulnerability to environmental problems. Climate change is likely to exacerbate such differences.
