ABSTRACT

Because adaptation to climate change is cross-sectoral in nature and affects key development areas, it has considerable impact on the lives and livelihoods of natural resource-dependent local communities. Therefore, investing in community-based adaptation (CBA) is increasingly recognised as a strategic approach for providing vulnerable populations with ground-level assistance while maximising development impacts in a holistic manner (UNFCCC Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice, 2010, INF.7).
