Over the past decade I have conducted research on the political mobilizations of non-status refugees and migrants,¹ specifically campaigns against deportation and detention, and for regularization and freedom of movement. Of particular interest to me have been campaigns that are initiated and led by self-organized groups of non-status people. These campaigns, I have argued, allow us to think critically about political subjectivity in relation to non-citizenship.
