ABSTRACT

Emotions fly high during one’s academic life. I, for one, can close my eyes and remember the anguish over getting admitted into my Ph.D. program. The pride and excitement I felt when my first English-language publication came out. The feeling of being totally lost and helpless during the dissertation-writing process. The gratitude I felt towards faculty mentors who gave me their time and support throughout my doctorate. Needless to say, these emotional highpoints were going hand in hand with intellectual and material processes as well: writing a Ph.D. application or an article, defending a dissertation, or interviewing for an academic position, to name but a few.
