ABSTRACT

This chapter covers the three areas with which the TTIP is concerned: market access, regulations, and rules. Under market access, chapters on tariffs (including agricultural tariffs), liberalization of services, and government procurement are considered. Regulations are considered with respect to benefits, the prospects for mutual recognition and harmonization, and opposition to the reduction of non-tariff barriers (including Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures). The rules considered are geographic indications, investment, and Investor–State Dispute Settlement.
