ABSTRACT
Lawyers or courts sometimes ask experts for “just an IME (independent medical examination), nothing fancy.” It may be a “simple” disability or damage assessment or a fitness evaluation, or the attorney may believe he or she has an uncomplicated case. Many of them believe that psychiatrists and psychologists who spend an hour with someone can somehow figure out everything there is to know about that person.
