ABSTRACT

Curriculum change inevitably raises questions about what is to be learned and how it is to be learned. The second question, in particular, leads us to consider the physical and virtual environment for learning. There are many surface signs of change over the last decade. Almost all students now have access to their own PC or laptop and most universities offer a virtual learning environment hosting support material for courses. The effi ciency and effectiveness of face-to-face lecturing in universities is increasingly questioned.
