ABSTRACT

Navigating through the Accessible Research Cycle (ARC), practitioners have now successfully decided what they want to know and how they will apply it to their teaching. They have learned what others have had to say about their topic, and have thought about different ways to find out what they want to know; now it is time to ask a very important, complex question, “How does one involve people in research and obtain their informed consent?” This question is embedded within the ethical context of research considerations and obligations when working with participants. However, it also sits within a network of more general research ethics (American Educational Research Association, 2011; British Educational Research Association, 2011).
