ABSTRACT
The chapter will examine ‘stigma’ in health and social care, offering a new way of thinking about how this might be understood and confronted.
It will firstly explore meanings of the concept of stigma in theory and research;
It will then discuss stigma in specific accounts of social work practice and research;
It will finally offer a new paradigm for challenging stigma in health and social care.
