Technology for Leadership

According to ISLLC Standard 2, instructional leaders foster effective and appropriate technologies to support learning and teaching in schools. This chapter is about technology for learning and the role leaders play in shaping technology use for learning, teaching, and leading. More specifically, school leaders who effectively influence technology use understand both what to promote and how to use technology as part of preparing students for participation in the 21st century workplace. Today leaders face a public demand for student fluency with relevant workplace technologies, but the tools themselves are quickly upgrading and changing like never before. These rapid changes and upgrades affect both personal and professional dimensions of our lives. Take a minute to record your reflections about technology changes you have experienced. Extended Reflection 9.1

Write your ideas about the digital technologies that have essentially changed personal and workplace practices. Are students being introduced to the same tools in school? Are they learning to use these tools? As you read this chapter add to this list, considering all the ways that technology impacts learning in and out of schools.
