Enter the virtual world of Second Life (SL) with your avatar, and, even though you have not a virtual cent to your name, you can fi ll your inventory with clothes, accessories, pets, vehicles, furniture, and houses. While Second Life is known for having a virtual market economy valued at US$160 million (Linden Lab, 2010b), it also has a signifi cant economy centered on gifts. With a wide selection of and easy access to a huge selection of virtual goods, avatars can easily outfi t their second lives.
