ABSTRACT

Social stratification points to the phenomenon of layering between social groups. Since the advent of written records, we have yet to find a society that is without the phenomenon of social layering. In a stratified society, the status of groups at different levels is unequal. Therefore, the focus of social stratification research touches upon the problems of equality and inequality, fairness and unfairness, and justice and injustice. In any society, these issues are considered an essential concern.
