ABSTRACT

This chapter present the voices of some graduate leaders – all with early years professional status – as they reflect on their provision: in setting layout and child access; working with parents; and in pedagogical leadership. It draws on three graduate leaders in Kirklees Local Authority as they reflect on how they have become their setting’s pedagogical leader of children from birth to 30 months (B–30m). The emphasis is on children aged two years and this group of graduate leaders may be the exception that proves the rule, as it is, as Mary Whalley avers in Chapter 8, unusual that practice with babies and toddlers will be graduate led.
