ABSTRACT

This chapter addresses ECCE and family policy to examine the political and social issues that are impacting on ECCE today. It reflects on how to capitalise on partnerships with families and to develop the strengths of varied cultural and social expectations. The ECCE area is complex and practitioners need to develop critical and reflective perspectives on what will affect their practice and provision in their work with young children. The chapter aims to enable you to understand why it is complex and why reflection on policy impact is important.
