Using social network analysis to study entrepreneurship

The concept of social networks emerged in sociology and social anthropology (Jack 2010) in the 1930s and 1940s. Its diffusion in the scientific community is generally attributed to Elizabeth Bott, who applied the concept in 1957 to the analysis of family relationships. This conceptual origin explains the focus given in early studies to personal relationships in small communities.
