ABSTRACT

The Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory (MCMI; Millon, 1983) as revised (MCMI–II and MCMI–III; Millon, 1987, 1994, 1997) is a clinical test of personality designed to measure personality disorders and major psychiatric syndromes. The personality disorders assessed by the instrument are not isomorphic with official nomenclature (e.g., that in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders [DSM]; American Psychiatric Association [APA], 1983, 1987, 1994); rather, they emanate from Millon’s (1990; 2011a) theory of the derivation of personality disorders. However, recent changes in the instrument bring it closer to the DSM–IV classification of personality disorders, although it is still not identical to it.
