ABSTRACT

The wide availability of mobile devices such as smartphones (e.g., iPhones and Blackberries) and tablet devices (e.g., iPads and Galaxy tablets) in the Malaysian market has driven Malaysians to own either a smartphone or tablet or both. The devices are being used, not only for communication and gaining information, but also to increase one’s daily productivity, such as in managing daily personal, work, and family-related activities. The fact that mobile-service subscriptions coupled with broadband wireless or 3G and 4G Internet-access subscriptions are affordable means such devices have attracted the interest of most Malaysians, including academics in institutions of higher learning (IHLs). Likewise, an increasing number of students are seen to have these devices.
