ABSTRACT
In Greek, the word “Philokalia” means “love of beauty.” This word has been used since late antiquity to designate a “collection” or “anthology” of chosen texts. The Philokalia of Origen, compiled by Basil of Caesarea and Gregory of Nazianzus, made the word famous.
