ABSTRACT
The recent financial crisis is probably one of most important economic phenomena in the past decades. Although it is not the first crisis episode of the century (and parallels with the Great Depression of the 1930s and the oil shocks of the 1970s have been frequently cited), the current crisis has some peculiarities that make it different and under some points of view unique.
