ABSTRACT

The electrification of today’s vehicle fleet is currently being discussed as a major lever for a more environmentally friendly form of transport while at the same time reducing the dependence on oil. Emissions of, for example, CO2, NOx or particulate matter can be avoided locally and reduced overall, mostly through greater efficiencies in central power-generation plants. In addition, noise exposure along heavy traffic and city routes can be limited to that resulting from drag or rolling. Together with a stronger build-up of renewable generation capacities, electrified transport may even become emission-free at some point.
