When Lady Waldegrave died, Vanity Fair responded:
It is seldom that the loss of any private individual so greatly affects society. Lady Waldegrave reigned one of its Queens for many years and quits the scene in the meridian of her glory; her place cannot be filled up, she will leave a blank, which will last for this generation.
