ABSTRACT
The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), established by the Kyoto Protocol, enables projects that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in developing countries to earn credits that can be used by developed country (Annex I) parties to help meet their national emissions limitation commitments. Although the CDM does not have an explicit technology transfer objective, it contributes to technology transfer by financing emission reduction projects that use technologies currently not available in the host countries.
