ABSTRACT

The introduction has opened up a Pandora’s Box of methodological challenges for cross-border studies. Concomitantly, the underlying aim of the various chapters has been to present various methodological alternatives in fields of study such as cross-border migration, cultural and material global-ization, and cross-border histories. In this way, we have tried to take a step forward toward dealing with the criticism of methodological nationalism in theoretical as well as empirical terms.
