Learning and teaching in primary schools

This chapter has a very particular character. It provides an overview of the projects and thematic work of the UK’s Teaching and Learning Research Programme (TLRP), insofar as this work relates to learning and teaching in the primary phase. In this sense the chapter is delimited by the themes, questions and issues covered by the TLRP. In the main overview, the chapter summarises the work of 19 projects, organised thematically. In the synthesis which follows the overview, some general principles, distilled from these projects, are described and discussed.
