ABSTRACT
Museums, as public institutions concerned with change and continuity in the cultural and natural world, are well placed to promote the principles of sustainability or ‘resilience’ – namely balance, diversity and long-term thinking. They can pass on to future generations an understanding of the broad range of healthy environments, societies and economies, and can play an important leadership role in demonstrating good practice in sustainability through their day-to-day work.
