ABSTRACT

Sentiment analysis systems have typically been designed for use with specific domains, such as product and movie reviews, and political and newspaper domains. To our knowledge, the research discussed in this chapter is the first attempt to build a sentiment analysis system for the purpose of identifying sentiment and polarity (positivity, negativity, and neutrality) in student and test-taker essay writing (Beigman-Klebanov, Burstein, Madnani, Faulkner, & Tetreault, 2012).
