ABSTRACT

A multitude of health and health care issues aect lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people. Some of these health concerns may be held in common by the LGBT population, such as the stigmatization and discrimination faced by gender and sexual minorities. Other health concerns may be more specic to lesbians (e.g., ovarian cancer) or gay men (e.g., prostate cancer) or transgender people (sex reassignment surgery). One major challenge in evaluating the health needs of this population is the limited research available.
