ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of key issues in the use of mobile devices for teaching and learning in a school context. As the history of mobile learning that banning digital mobile devices such as mobile phones, tablets and mp3 players from classrooms and school yards is not the only option available to deal with the new technologies in school contexts. The aim is for school learning to moderate between subjective perspectives of the learner and objective requirements of school. In a context where the relevance of school-based learning is increasingly being questioned by young people, this seems to us to be a particularly important aspect. Planning learning with mobile devices in the classroom requires good preparation in order to make the most of it and to provide a basis for learners and teachers to make mobile learning sustainable, scalable and transferable.
