ABSTRACT
The NGO (nongovernmental organization) is a new concept that was introduced by scholars to mainland China through the “State and Society” framework in the 1990s. However, within less than 20 years, this concept has evolved to include many new types of civil organizations. These will be the focus of this chapter.
