ABSTRACT

The textile recycling industry is an age-old business that has been sorting, grading and conducting business in the same way for several generations. Clearly now is the time to consider new strategies that generate environmental and economic improvements that could catapult the industry to the next level and help rid us of the plethora of textile waste that is warehoused throughout the Western world. This chapter provides an overview of the industry and opens the door for critical discussions that need to be considered so that the industry can move forward to address the pending issues as consumer textile waste increases.
