ABSTRACT

The notion that people change over time is relatively uncontroversial; however, less trivial are observations that many of these changes are possible only as the product of the coordinated actions of a very great number of processes, and, as a result, predicting their emergence is extremely difficult. The development of excellence exemplifies this type of process. However, compared to many processes that take place without our own intervention, developing excellence is an active process preceded by an immense number of successful regulations or adjustments that, importantly, can be facilitated through appropriate attention. This emphasizes the necessity of the correct approach to gifted education.
