ABSTRACT

There are many myths about people who are exposed to trauma and their post-trauma reactions. This also is the case with military personnel who are exposed to trauma, particularly in the wartime theater or while otherwise serving on active duty, such as during basic training or while on dangerous realistic training exercises to maintain operational readiness. These myths have a profound impact on understanding and our ability to assist our service members, our veterans and their families to heal from the unceasing impact of war.
