ABSTRACT
All Gaul, wrote Julius Caesar (bce 51/1960), is divided into three parts. Similarly, psychotherapy research can be organized into three main areas. Unlike ancient Gaul, these domains are defined not by the rivers that separate them but rather by the scientific questions that motivate them, and by the language, customs, and principles of the researchers who seek to answer these questions.
