ABSTRACT

In the former Soviet Union, American mink were released into the wild to establish a harvestable population. According to some estimates, prior to 1971 up to 20,400 mink were released at more than 250 sites (Pavlov and Korasakova, 1973, in Macdonald and Harrington, 2003). Mink are now established as an invasive species in many former Soviet Union countries (Dunstone, 1993).
