ABSTRACT

Acute injuries about the shoulder include fractures of the clavicle, humerus, or scapula; acromioclavicular (AC) and sternoclavicular (SC) separation; and shoulder subluxation and dislocation. Occasionally, an athlete will sustain an acute rotator cuff tear, tendon rupture, or muscle tear (Figures 14.1 and 14.2).
