ABSTRACT

At any skill level, the threat of injury in sporting activities is always present. Indeed, sports injury has become a significant public health issue in many countries where sport participation is part of community life. For example, recent figures from Australia indicate that sports injuries cost approximately AUS$2 billion, with 5.2 million sports injuries incurred annually (Medibank Private, 2006). These figures appear to be relatively consistent around the world (Brewer, 2011).
