My sense is that Maria Ley-Piscator was deliberately obfuscating the content of Piscator’s theory of Objective Acting, perhaps because she herself did not grasp its intentions, or perhaps because she did understand the political significance of Objective Theatre and, as always, meant to protect Piscator from a dangerous expression of his political ideals.
