Postmodernism, theological and a/theological, however ‘flamed’ or ‘reframed’ – whether as ecstasy or as eschatology – is a trahison des clercs. For the current sceptical reception of religion is analogous to the former critical reduction of religion: it repeats a historical and political diremption which it refuses to think.
