ABSTRACT
Australia has a population of around 24 million and is made up of six states and two territories. It seems to be unique in the way this political structure is reflected in the design of National Olympic Committee (NOC) structure. Of these eight regions only the Northern Territory does not have an Olympic Council. This paper will refer to the state and territory involvement collectively as State Olympic Councils (SOCs).
