ABSTRACT
This chapter draws on the experience of exploring with a group of MPhil/PhD students what it means in practice to incorporate feminist approaches in research designs. All the students were following research training programmes in the School of Education or the Faculty of Social Sciences at Southampton University and all had an interest in, but not necessarily a commitment to, feminism. The aim of the research training is to heighten awareness of the relationship between epistemology and methodology, and provide information and critical insights into the efficacy of different methods, so that in shaping the design of their personal research topics they are able to exercise critical reflexivity about their choices.
