ABSTRACT

Bosanquet (eds), Labour and Inequality, Fabian Society, 1972, p.63. 18 Much to Richard Crossman’s horror. Crossman had spent a good deal of his

time during the 1950s working with the ‘Titmuss Group’ on a new pensions plan intended to provide greater equality of pensions in old age. He was disappointed when Wilson opted for an immediate rise in flat-rate pensions. The move was expensive and did nothing to bring closer a fairer distribution of income for older people.
