ABSTRACT

From the name, physical education, one might expect the school subject to consist of education of the physical, through the physical and about the physical. Unfortunately characterization of the subject is not so easy and there are many aspects that need to be considered before a definitive statement can be made about what constitute the aims and objectives of physical education. This is not intended as a meta-analysis of research into physical education teaching and learning, but is an attempt to describe and then synthesize into a digestible package what we know.
