ABSTRACT

The subject matter of this chapter is occupational identity and work orientations in two administrative service occupations: occupations which are since long female-dominated, have undergone more or less dramatic rationalization and other changes during the last few decades, and are generally not conceived to be characterized by strong work-related identities. 1 Empirically, the chapter draws on qualitative data from a study focusing on medical secretaries and post-office cashiers in Sweden. 2
