ABSTRACT
In the mythology of twentieth-century architecture, Frank Lloyd Wright’s design for the Imperial Hotel holds a special place. The Imperial’s formal grandeur and its exotic synthesis of historical, modern and cross-cultural ornamental styles presented an instantly recognisable image, while the building’s innovative engineering made it the subject for one of the best-known dramas in modern architectural history.
